About
My name is Isabella Thoroughman, and I am a first year honors student and Presidential Scholar at the University of Cincinnati. I am fulfilling both a ballet BFA at the College Conservatory of Music and a pre-medical certificate.
My story begins in Williamstown, Kentucky, where I grew up with my six siblings, two dogs, and three cats. Following in my three older sisters' footsteps, I began to dance when I was three years old. By the time I put on my first pair of pointe shoes, ballet and I were inseparable. I also began to study flute at the age of eight and started lessons in seventh grade with Amy Taylor, former second flutist of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. I would have eventually given up the pursuit of one of these art forms if it hadn't been for my mom. She constantly challenged us to go further than we ever thought possible - to reach for the stars. Through the rigorous schedule I maintained throughout my middle and high school years, I learned that not everything that seems impossible really is, and that I was capable of much more than I believed. Now at the University of Cincinnati, coming into a BFA in ballet while fulfilling the prerequisites for medical school, I am so grateful for my mom's lessons. I would never have taken on this challenge without learning that a little hard work and lots of perseverance could take me anywhere. I am fueled both by creativity and compassion, and now I am able to satisfy my desire for both here at UC. I hope throughout college to use this drive and passion to make a lasting impact in the Cincinnati community.
A few more facts about me: I danced with the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music Preparatory Department throughout all four years of high school. Also, I have a passion for oncology and children, and I would love to one day work at St. Jude's. Finally, I am an avid Disney fan, and my dream is to one day participate in the Disney College Program!
